Repair of damaged conveyor belt

2024-09-02 356
During long-term use of conveyor belts, it is inevitable to encounter longitudinal tearing, cracking, and damage to the surface of the conveyor belt, which we call conveyor belt damage. Every time we see this situation, it is very troublesome. If it is mild, we need to do some cold vulcanization repair, and if it is severe, we need to replace the belt and perform hot vulcanization joint. Not only does it cause trouble for oneself, but more importantly, it causes unnecessary economic losses to the company.
How to prevent these situations from happening? Let's briefly analyze the factors involved below.
1、 Factors causing longitudinal tearing of conveyor belts:
(1) The oscillation impact causes the fasteners to loosen and fall, resulting in the dropping of coal pipe lining plates, guide plates, etc.
(2) Foreign objects are mixed into the material, which are strong and sharp, and the coal chute is blocked and squeezed.
(3) The roller is damaged and the roller frame is scratched.
(4) The conveyor belt deviated severely and was caught by the rack.
(5) The cleaner is rolled into the drum (return cleaner), the bolts are loose, and there are signs of bouncing.
2、 Factors causing cracking of conveyor belts:
(1) Due to the constraints of spatial scale, the number of twists and turns in the conveyor belt is high.
(2) During joint vulcanization, it has undergone two or more sulfurization processes due to various factors.
3、 Factors causing tearing of vulcanized joints in conveyor belts:
(1) The diameter of the reversing drum is small, and the bending stress received by the conveyor belt is large.
(2) The quality of the vulcanized joints on the conveyor belt is poor, especially for those that have been vulcanized more than twice. The strength of the joints is significantly reduced, or the canvas layer is cut off or polished during bonding, resulting in a decrease in strength.
(3) Regarding reversible conveyors, because they can only be overlapped in one direction, they are easily scratched by sharp corners of equipment such as cleaners and unloaders on the belt.
(4) The conveyor has a short operating cycle, frequent starting, and high instantaneous tension.
4、 Factors causing damage to the adhesive surface covered by the conveyor belt:
(1) The gap between the guide groove lining plate and the tape is not suitable, resulting in abnormal wear, or foreign objects are embedded in the gap, resulting in abnormal wear or scratches.
(2) The material flow rate at the guide chute is not consistent with the speed of the conveyor belt, resulting in a large drop and accelerating the wear of the rubber surface.
(3) The roller is damaged, resulting in abnormal wear or scratches on the adhesive tape.
(4) Illegal operations, welding slag burns during maintenance, and scratches on the cleaner.
