Factors causing conveyor belt deviation:

There are various factors that can cause the conveyor belt to deviate, usually due to equipment not being properly adjusted, or simply due to errors in the manufacturing process that cause the horn mouth to deviate.

Reason 1:

The axis of the head driven drum or the tail reversing drum is not straight from the centerline of the conveyor, causing the conveyor belt to deviate at the head drum or the tail reversing drum. When the drum deviates, the tension of the conveyor belt on both sides of the drum is inconsistent, and the traction force Fq along the width direction is also inconsistent, forming an increasing or decreasing trend. This will add a decreasing direction of movement force to the conveyor belt, causing it to deviate towards the loose side, which is called "loose running but not tight running"

Adjustment method:

The adjustment method is that for the head drum, if the conveyor belt deviates to the right of the drum, the right bearing seat should move forward. If the conveyor belt deviates to the left of the drum, the left bearing seat should move forward. Correspondingly, the left bearing seat can also be moved backward or the right bearing seat can be moved backward. The adjustment method of the tail drum is exactly opposite to that of the head drum. By repeatedly adjusting until the conveyor belt is adjusted to the ideal orientation, the optimal and accurate device for its orientation is set before adjusting the drive or changing the direction of the roller.

Reason 2:

Errors in processing the outer surface of the roller, uneven adhesion or wear may result in varying diameters, causing the conveyor belt to deviate towards the side with the larger diameter.
Adjustment method:
The solution to this situation is to tidy up the adhesive on the surface of the clean drum. Any processing errors or uneven wear should be replaced and reprocessed with adhesive treatment.

Reason Three:
The feeding direction at the forwarding point is not correct, which has a significant impact on the deviation of the conveyor belt, especially when the projection of the previous conveyor and the current conveyor on the horizontal plane is straight. Should we usually consider the relative position of the two belt conveyors at the forwarding point? Degree. The lower the relative height, the greater the horizontal velocity and weight of the material, and the greater the lateral impact force on the base belt, making it difficult for the material to be centered together. Make the material on the cross-section of the conveyor belt deviate. If the material deviates to the right, the belt will run to the left, and vice versa.

Adjustment method:

In this situation of deviation, the relative height between the two conveyors should be increased as much as possible during the planning process. The method and scale of the upper and lower funnels, guide troughs, and other components of a belt conveyor constrained by space should be carefully considered. Usually, the width of the guide groove should be about three fifths of the width of the belt, which is more suitable. To reduce or prevent belt deviation, a blocking plate can be added to block the material and change the direction and orientation of the material's fall.
