In the long-term use of conveyor belts, it is inevitable to encounter longitudinal tearing, cracking, and damage to the surface of the conveyor belt, which we call conveyor belt damage. Every time we see this situation, it is very troublesome. If it is mild, we need to do some cold vulcanization repair, and if it is severe, we need to replace the belt and perform hot vulcanization joints. Not only did it cause trouble for oneself, but more importantly, it resulted in unnecessary economic losses for the company.
How to prevent these situations from happening? Let's briefly analyze the reasons behind it below.
1、 Reason for longitudinal tearing of conveyor belt:
(1) Vibration and impact cause fasteners to loosen and fall, resulting in the dropping of coal pipe lining plates, guide plates, etc.
(2) Foreign objects are mixed into the material, which are hard and sharp, and the coal chute is blocked and squeezed.
(3) The roller is damaged and the roller frame is scratched.
(4) The conveyor belt deviated severely and was caught by the rack.
(5) The cleaner is rolled into the drum (return cleaner), the bolts are loose, and there are signs of bouncing.
2、 The reason for the cracking of the conveyor belt:
(1) Due to the constraints of spatial scale, the conveyor belt has more twists and turns.
(2) Due to various reasons, the joint has undergone two or more vulcanization processes during vulcanization.
3、 The reason for tearing the vulcanized joint of the conveyor belt:
(1) The diameter of the reversing drum is small, and the conveyor belt is subjected to high bending stress.
(2) The quality of the vulcanized joints on the conveyor belt is poor, especially for those that have been vulcanized more than twice. The strength of the joints is significantly reduced, or the canvas layer is cut off or polished during bonding, resulting in a decrease in strength.
(3) Regarding reversible conveyors, due to the fact that they can only be overlapped in one direction, they are easily scratched by sharp corners of equipment such as cleaners and unloaders on the belt.
(4) The conveyor has a short working cycle, frequent starting, and high instantaneous tension.
4、 Reasons for damage to the adhesive surface covered by the conveyor belt:
(1) The gap between the guide groove lining plate and the tape is not suitable, resulting in abnormal wear, or foreign objects are embedded in the gap, resulting in abnormal wear or scratches.
(2) The material flow rate at the guide chute is not consistent with the speed of the conveyor belt, resulting in a large drop and accelerating the wear of the adhesive surface.
(3) The roller is damaged, resulting in abnormal wear or scratches on the adhesive tape.
(4) Violation of regulations in work, welding slag burns during maintenance, and scratches on cleaning equipment.
(5) Slippery tape can also cause abnormal wear of the tape.
The most common questions during the use of conveyor belts are: foreign object scratches, partial foreign object damage, wear, perforation, etc.
Generally, due to the formation of foreign objects, the conveyor belt is partially damaged. According to traditional methods, it needs to be completely disassembled, repaired, heated, vulcanized, or replaced with scrap. Polymer rubber correction data can be used, which has super strong adhesion, excellent wear resistance, and excellent tensile performance. Using polymer rubber to correct materials, the rubber conveyor belt can be repaired on-site without disassembly or thermal vulcanization, with low repair costs and short time, preventing significant losses caused by waste replacement and long-term downtime. Moreover, the corrected conveyor belt can fully reach the service life of the new conveyor.
The thickness of the repair coating is controllable, the forming speed is fast, and the application time is short. The cured coating has high cohesive strength, tensile strength, peel strength, and good hardness, resistance, and elongation. It can greatly simplify the repair construction process, with good self leveling and a bright appearance. It can quickly repair damaged rubber conveyor belts and rubber products, and can also pre coat a protective layer on the surface of the finished product to extend its service life.
